Tips for Overcoming Obstacles in Life - #4

Once you understand what potential obstacles you might face, you can plan how you’re going to tackle your obstacles. For example, if you know that you’re going to be dealing with sugar cravings, you can have a protein bar solution in your purse, desk drawer and glove box of your car. If you’re dealing with giving up caffeine and you know you’re going to have headaches, you can plan a few days off of work, grab a bottle of pain relievers, or brace yourself to power through the headaches knowing the reward is on the other end. Planning is a great way to be ready for the challenges you will face when trying to overcome an obstacle in life.

The Impact of Music on Overcoming Obstacles

“Everyone has a personal jukebox. Perhaps if we could compile these songs onto a single tape, CD or our iPod, we could capture our own private soundtracks. Our life stories could be illustrated by words and music that show how so many of us share the same wants and needs. I think music is a medicine that helps to cure the heart. Music can be the friend we sometimes need to help us through hard times. For me, it has always been a constant companion, providing answers when I had no idea to whom I could turn. Music was another understanding stranger willing to offer help when I least expected it. Somehow, in some way, we get what we need.” – Tony Lombardo

What are some songs that would tell your life story?

About Let's Hear Your Story

Let’s Hear Your Story, Inc. is all about how individuals conquer life’s obstacles. Each and every person has a story to tell, whether it be about living with a physical disability, struggling through an illness, losing a loved one, battling with addiction, or the many other twists and turns thrown our way. The story may be a personal story….something you endured, or it might be something that you witnessed, that impacted you in such a way that changed your life as you know it.

While each person’s story is different, LHYS focuses on the fact that everyone has a life story. Some stories have happy endings, and others do not. But each person’s story is filled with infinite emotions and often stems from an event, or events that leave an immense impact on their life and the lives of those around them.

When in the moment, it is normal to think “I am the only one going through this”, it is normal to be sad, to be angry, and to feel alone. But when you are able to learn about others that have gone through or are going through something similar, when you are able to read the stories of people that have overcome similar struggles, you no longer feel alone…you feel hope.

That is the ultimate goal of LHYS…to give people hope. Not only the hope that you can overcome obstacles that life throws your way, but also, the hope that you do not have to do it alone. And when the time is right, you can then become a part of something much larger than yourself; you can tell your overcoming adversity life story and give someone else that same hope to conquer their struggles and live to tell their story.
